Viagra came in the US drug market in 1998 and took very little time to become one of the best selling drugs in all health categories. Simply the word of mouth about Viagra’s ‘hard hitting’ success inspired many men with erectile difficulties to have a talk with their doctors and buy Viagra. As this medicine has grown in popularity from those early days, more and more men are feeling curious about it, asking questions like “Can it solve all my sexual problems?”. The answer is no. A recent study says that Viagra may not work for you if your problem is related to low testosterone.

The study was conducted in response to a common complaint lodged by many men who tried Viagra to improve the quality of their sex life. For majority of men, the most common approach to erectile dysfunction treatment involves the following 2 steps:

  • Seeking medical help after experiencing erectile problems
  • Providing information on the problem to the doctor

Now whether or not Viagra will work for you depends on the last step. You have to provide accurate information on your problem to help your doctor pinpoint its cause. The study shows that men with low testosterone levels often suffer from other underlying health conditions, including heart problems and type-2 diabetes. So an accurate diagnosis of ED is imperative for effective treatment.

Testosterone production usually starts to deplete as you age. It is a primary male sex hormone related to libido or sexual desire. Viagra or other impotence pills will be of no help when your desire for sex is missing because of reduced amount of testosterone.

So tell your doctor if you fail to get erections despite having desire for sex. Viagra may then give you the physical boost needed to go ahead with your desire. Otherwise, go for testosterone replacement therapies to up your desire quotient.
